After another day's racing, it's the yacht "KIWI MAGIC" that takes the lead in the overall rankings. The weather conditions remained the same as yesterday. You can watch a replay of all the day's races at https://www.toulonprovenceregatta.fr/page/2708975-le-replay-des-regates. The Toulon Provence regatta's social networks have posted images of the day's racing, including a video summary of the second day's racing on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/@ToulonProvenceRegatta/videos The yachts returned earlier to prepare for the Olympic flame to pass through the square in the port of Toulon. At around 7.15pm, the flame arrived on the Préfet Maritime de la Méditerranée launch, to the cheers of the crowds on the quayside! The torchbearer took time out to visit the sailboats in the Toulon Provence Regatta 2024, including THEA and EILEEN. Finally, this Olympic evening on Friday 10 May, after a dance and musical show on a floating pontoon, ended in grand style with a show by a thousand drones illuminating the night sky over Toulon with the colours of the PARIS 2024 Olympic Games! Tomorrow, the regattas continue in the Grande rade. They will be accompanied by demonstrations, events and free water baptisms in front of and inside Anse des Pins, on the beaches of Mourillon. You can find out more about the activities on offer at https://www.toulonprovenceregatta.fr/page/2696971-animations. And keep an eye on the open sea, as the nautical show will be on the water! For its first edition, the Toulon Provence Regatta was limited to boats in the 12mJI Class. In 2025, the regatta will be open not only to the 12mJI but also to Classes 2.4, 5.5, 6, 8 and the 1mJI remote-controlled by Artificial Intelligence! The latter involves teams (higher education institutions, companies, works councils, private individuals, etc.) competing against each other in races involving one-metre-long model sailing boats. Once you cross the start line, you don't touch the remote controls and the Artificial Intelligence takes over until the finish. A Tuesday full of energy for the Regatta! | Twelve Med Events

It was announced that the wind would be "well established in force" this Tuesday, and it had to be to support the events of this first day, planned for the volunteer teams of the Toulon Provence Regatta! The school morning began in the presence of Mrs Josée MASSI, Mayor of Toulon, and her deputies Laurent BONNET and Yann TAINGUY. No fewer than 290 primary school pupils from the TPM metropolitan area were able to practise their seamanship, knots and flags of the international alphabet. The presentation panels for the various sponsored yachts were handed over to the skippers, and you can now discover them all along the Carré du Port. After a visit to the exhibition and discussions in the Mairie d'Honneur with skippers Clément GIRAUD and Mikael MERGUI, the sponsors of the regatta, it was time to visit the different boats... "It was great! It was great!" exclaimed one of the schoolchildren... As the boats were unable to get out for regatta training, the first visits open to the public were able to serenely follow those of the exhibition "The Coupe de France, 130 years of regattas" held in the Mairie d'Honneur. A large screen has now been installed in the Carré du Port, allowing the public to admire these exceptional yachts at sea. The day ended with a presentation on the history of the French challenge and its new prospects in SAIL GP, catamaran on F50 foils or AC40 and AC75, at speeds approaching 100km/h! You had to hold on tight to your seat! The public is now ready to follow the first regatta training sessions scheduled for tomorrow!

Toulon Provence Regatta trophies - Twelve Med Events

The trophies for the Toulon Provence Regatta 2024 are ready for the prize-giving ceremony next week. They were chosen by Lucille Caille and Anaïs Coudrier, both students at the École Camondo. The prestigious Parisian school of interior architecture and design has opened a second site in Toulon in September 2019. For the trophies, the students chose a material made from recycled PE 100% (high-density polyethylene) plastic waste. The trophies will be awarded to the crews of the 12mJI yachts with the best results in the various regattas taking place from 9 to 12 May in Toulon's Grande rade, at the Vignettes nautical stadium. The Toulon Provence Regatta 2024 gets underway next week, with the yachts arriving in Toulon harbour on Monday. It begins with 2 days of regatta training, followed by 4 days of official regattas off the Mourillon beaches. Find out more about all the events and parties taking place around these regattas below: FULL PROGRAMME Meanwhile, it's the turn of the sailing yacht THEA (D1) to take her place in Toulon harbour under the returning sun. At 106 years old, she is the oldest of the competing yachts. Find out more below.
Volunteers: final adjustments before the start!

They were present at the Palais Neptune or by videoconference last night for this final meeting of volunteers to fine-tune and prepare for next Monday's departure for a week from 6 to 12 May that will be very 'sporting' but also exceptional for Toulon! There will be 9 12mJI yachts taking part in the regattas. Two of them have already arrived, Jenetta and Northern Light. At sea and on land, the teams are getting to know each other and briefing each other. Formalising and securing the zones and courses on the one hand, welcoming the crews and the public on the other... each team has its own role to play. You can read the testimonials of two of them at this link: https://www.toulonprovenceregatta.fr/page/2772014-temoignages-des-benevoles All that's left is for the skies to be favourable and for the right breeze to blow!
