Third day for the Toulon Provence Regatta!
Briefing this morning for the crews of the 12 mJI yachts in the Carré du Port, with the skipper of FRENCH KISS, Marc PAJOT, always full of humour, and Patsy, our English translator, providing the link with all the crews taking part in the regattas.
It was a day of water baptisms at the Coves des Pins, Tabarly and Lido, thanks to the various partner clubs and associations: TOULON'VAA, AVIRON TOULONNAIS, ANSM, CMV and SNPM. The public could discover canoes, kayaks, paddles, radio-controlled sailing boats and Polynesian pirogues. The MAIF stand and young people from the SNSM training centre gave rescue and first aid demonstrations.
A beautiful parade of dinghies from the "POINTUS ET PATRIMOINE" (Saint Mandrier), CNMT and UMM associations, sailed along all the dykes of the Mourillon beaches and ended its journey on the Carré du port de Toulon in full colour!
As was the case last year, we saw a duel between KIWI MAGIC and FRENCH KISS throughout the 12 mJI regattas today and yesterday. In the overall ranking of the 25 boats in the 2.4 mR class, it was still the Englishwoman, Megan PASCOE on "LITTLE MISS ESME" who was leading the race.
Tonight was the last day for the Toulon public to visit these magnificent yachts returning from their regattas. Fortunately, tours of the SNSM launch 'Notre-Dame de Bonne Garde' were available all day without booking, and in the late afternoon for the 'pointus' and the boats with the AMERAMI association's maritime heritage label.
Tomorrow are the last races before the general prize-giving ceremony at 4pm in front of the Préfecture Maritime.
