It was under the breezy sunshine of this morning that Flica 2, the oldest of the 12mJI metric yachts participating in the Toulon Provence Regatta 2026, berthed at the quay made available by MARIBAY Toulon Plaisance. Flica 2 will be gradually joined by 7 May by the other 12mJI yachts from the 70s and 80s generations: France 1, South Australia, Kookaburra 2, Kiwi Magic!<\/strong><\/p>

The 12-metre class represented the pinnacle of yacht development for the highest levels of international sailing competition, from the Olympic Games (1908-1920) to the America's Cup (1958-1987).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The International Metre Rule was born on 12 June 1906 in London. It allows yachts measured under the rule to race each other in real-time (without handicap correction). As early as 1907, the first 12-Metre yachts were built in Great Britain, Germany and Scandinavia, following the first rule formula which remained in effect until 1920: For a 12-Metre yacht, the result R must be less than or equal to 12. Hull length ranges between 18 and 21 m for a displacement of approximately 30 tonnes. Two other, slightly different, formulas came into effect in 1920 and 1933.\u00a0<\/p>
